Florin Court Studio Refurbishment February 2014
Just around the corner from the Barbican Estate, Thomson Brothers have recently been working on several projects at the well known Art Deco block, Florin Court Here we undertook the complete refurbishment of this studio apartment. The work included moving the kitchen into the main bed-sitting room to create a separate study in what was the original kitchen location. Click on any image for a larger view.
Shallow false ceilings were installed between the structural beams to allow in-set spot lights to be fitted.
The wardrobe conceals a neat foldaway double bed which only takes a few seconds to deploy.
A bespoke piece houses the AV equipment it's curves referencing the arc of the Art Deco window opposite.
The new kitchen takes it's inspiration from our Barbican replacements and works well in this small space.
The rest of the built-in wardrobe provides useful storage.

Complete Refurbishment, Type 100 Barbican Flat
Earlier this year Thomson Brothers undertook this interesting refurbishment of a type 100 flat. Our clients had clear ideas for how they wanted to use the space and we worked closely with them to design various pieces of bespoke fitted furniture for the living room, dressing room and bedroom. We also installed one of our replacement Barbican kitchens along with a new walk-in shower room and separate WC.

Work In Progress August 2013, Wallside House Refurbishment
Thomson Brothers are currently undertaking the complete refurbishment of one of the terraced town houses found on Wallside in the Barbican, Click here to view a page of larger images.
With a tight deadline to meet , less than 2 weeks later the house was ready for the clients to move in, with only final touches and snagging still to do.

Barbican Tower Penthouse Shower Room & Other Recent Projects
Thomson Brothers have recently refurbished the top floor bathroom in a unique penthouse flat at the top of one of the three Barbican towers. Wood veneers, composite quartz counter tops and the clients tile choices add warmth to the design. A false ceiling allows for the installation of spot lighting; glass and mirror increase the sense of space.
Being the penthouse, the flat provides amazing views over London!
Another recently completed shower room uses concealed lighting and wood veneers, along with the clients choice of quartz and tile finishes, to bring warmth and individuality to the design.
The owners of this compact one bedroom flat in Ben Jonson House had a clear vision of how to make
the most of the relatively small space, Thomson Brothers expertise in working at the Barbican and our workshops ability to make bespoke furniture to fit any space, quickly made their ideas a reality.
The bath was replaced with a walk-in shower.
Doors were replaced with sliding, frosted glass panels which disappear into wall "pockets" when opened.
The small kitchen is a classic Thomson Brothers Barbican replacement, sympathetically providing all the modern requirements for compact city living.
